This Magnesium Citrate (3:2) pure powder complies with US Pharmacopeia (USP) quality standard. It is magnesium citrate (3:2) hydrate form [Mg3(O6H5O7)2•9H2O]. The Magnesium Citrate (3:2) is a salt of magnesium and citric acid at a molar ratio 3:2. It contains 16% magnesium element by weight. Compare with magnesium citrate (1:1), it is less water soluble and more alkaline, but contains 42.6% more magnesium by weight. Magnesium citrate is more easily digested and better absorbed than other forms of magnesium. Magnesium is a mineral that is critical for energy production and metabolism, muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission, and bone mineralization. It is an important cofactor for about 300 kinds of enzymes. Fatty acid synthesis, protein synthesis, and glucose metabolism are among the reactions catalyzed by those enzymes. Magnesium status is also important for regulation of calcium balance through its effects on the parathyroid gland.
